Hey @Watty1 you've caught your spending and are returning things! That's a sign of lessons well learned. Middle of the night is always hard and you're spotting behaviour that you don't want to practise and reversing it. If you have a hat and a feather, it's time to unite them. Love Humdinger xx2

ajmoney said:I have been overspending for a couple of months but not entirely sure where I have spent it. I am using this time to reevaluate for so many reasons!
I do actually need to buy clothes as none of mine fit and I have zero motivation to exercise right now. I know that only I can change the path I am on but that doesn't make it any easier.
Motivation is such a big one. I've been struggling with that, not riding, spending out of control and so on. I've decided to get through December and make plans for January. This month I'm just being mindful what I spend and I looked up the frump to fabulous thread and am planning on signing up next year. I've also signed up for a 12 week challenge on F/book for horse stuff and started thinking about my finances.
So hard with me being in such a state of limbo.
I think awareness is where it starts and having read your thread you are using this time to think and that is a great start

I decided to keep all the jeans as they are riding jeans, I wear them all the time and the company is closing down so they were half price and I realised when my current ones wear out I'd have to find something else to wear so I packed them away. If my weight continues to rise then I will have to sell them on the bay of e.
I will also start upsubbing from emails that encourage the spending as I think if they stop pouring into my inbox I might stop browsing websites.
Living between former home and the rental is a struggle and last night I decided to clear up a bit in the ensuite at the house I used to share. I stay there overnight some nights as it is easier than going home late just to get up early and return to look after the horses. I really need somewhere to live nearer but the rental is so flexible (month by month) and the people there so nice that I feel comfortable and safe. I see little point in taking on a 6 month rental when this might be over in weeks - writes she who has been renting that for 18 months.
Anyway clearing up the bathroom I find a mix of new stuff I've bought because I'm coming back here and need shampoo or something and stuff that I probably left behind when I moved out. Lets just say that I wont be spending much in 2022 on toiletries, there is some stuff to donate to the hygiene bank and after using the anti-wrinkle cream twice I'm not sure it is a magical fix but I'll use the tube up! I've left it by the toothbrush as a reminder

The VNM came over this morning after his night shift and turned out the horses for me and mucked out. The ex is away so the VNM can come over and I was so grateful. I just went back to sleep. I so needed that sleep. I've got up feeling I can face the day rather than the overwhelm of the last couple of days.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

Feeling MSE Worthy. Have had a multi car insurance policy with the ex which was always charged to my credit card. It is due to expire so rang to cancel and was told it couldn't be cancelled without his permission despite the fact I arranged it and paid for it. i really didn't understand but it seems last year he redid it and therefore is the main policy holder or some such nonsense.
I burst into tears which was quite unintentional but it seems impossible to get him out of my life. Poor chap on phone, he popped me on hold to talk with his colleague and came back saying policy cancelled. There ended the matter. He popped me over to new business to get a quote and it seemed high so I checked online.
Did policy via Quidco which if it tracks should get me £30 ish back plus a £20 gift voucher from Halfords (I have no idea what to buy in Halfords but hopefully they will sell batteries or something useful like that and the policy was only £146 anyway. Pleased.
Have yet to insure the 4x4 that I am due to pick up but can't insure that without the model trim or variety or whatever but hey ho. Very pleased with the mini insurance. (I realise it is not MSE to have both cars but I will worry about that later!)

Couple of bits of really good news in there, Watty, even though you went through a bad time with crying on the phone. You did really well to stick with it.2023: the year I get to buy a car2

(I realise it is not MSE to have both cars but I will worry about that later!)Not sure if it's still the same now but I had 2 cars about 20 years ago. I had full NCD when I had one car, but they wouldn't give me full NCD for the second vehicle - I had to earn my way up to that amount (I think they gave me 20% introductory). If it's still the same, you may find it works out better to have the earned NCD on your 4x4.ETA not sure you even need all the nitty gritty details of the vehicle anymore, don't most insurance companies use a database where they grab all the details from the registration number?Make £2025 in 2025
