I want a washing machine

My washing machine has finally died and I need to repalce it.

I am looking for a 1300 variable spin speed, hot and cold fill, and 6kg load.

I doubt that I will get the hot and cold as most seem to be cold only fill. I am looking to spend no more than £250.

Any suggestions would be fab

TIA

There are loads of reasons not to bother buying a hot fill washer do you really need it? as there are very few hot fill machines available now anyway. the makers have gone down the lines of using as little water as possible and the result is that the machine only takes the cooled water that is stored in the pipes between the tank and washer and ends up heating internally anyway. Another thing that most hot fill washers only call for hot water when washing at over 60 degrees anyway so how often do you use a 60+ wash?

Personally i would buy a cold fill let it heat the water ok it may take a little longer but you will have a much better choice of what to buy.

The only reason I would restrict myself to a hot fill would be if my hot water came from a "free" mehod of heating it like solar or geothermal. Is it better to heat the water by gas or electricity? both are expensive at the moment.

Yes... you are totally right ! I've just got back from Comets and there are no hot and cold fill available.

Does anyone know if all makes are much the same? What about spin speed? I have been used to a 1300 but they are few and far between. It seems that I must choose from a 1200 or 1400. Is there a noticable difference between the two speeds?

    TIA

1400 is faster than 1200 LOL

I would expect that the 1400 may be noiseier than the slower one. but you can get nearly silent washers, a mate of mine got one a few month ago and it is really quiet.

Remember that a lot of washers are the same under the skin, I am sure there is a thread somewhere telling you which washers are the same allowing you to buy the cheaper machine and get the same machine without the name on it.
