Solar immersion heaters and the RHI

I'm thinking of upgrading my hw cylinder to hook it up to get heated from the excess solar generation, and was wondering if anyone knew if this could be an application to receive the domestic RHI if the metering was compliant?

You need a proper installation from scratch, with no used parts, done by appropriately certified personnel to attract the subsidy.
It is impossible to get DIY work certified.0 -
Only the base technology (eg: solar PV, ASHP, etc) is subject to RHI.
A device which simply diverts existing generation to a specific usage isn't.
Since electricity is one of the least efficient, most carbon-intensive, and most expensive ways of water heating, it's not something that is likely to be encouraged. We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
