I find this part (in bold) interesting in view of your other thread. You really need to get to grips with cooking healthy food for yourself first before you even contemplate food for other peoples children.

Thank you for your whole post, but in regards to this in particular (I wondered as I wrote that bit if this would come up :D ) I do have a family member who has been working with children for over 30 years and is very prim and proper when it comes to kids.. and I know she will help me with the orignal start up in this area espically.

  • If you have someone that will help you out with that kind of experience I would start doing figures on setting up crèche/nursery with affordable rates. This might make it possible for some of these Mums to work.

I think that would be more viable than what your proposing.

I looked into this when I stopped working. It costs upwards of £100k for a decent playframe. The sort of place I'd want to visit would cost around £300k for just the play frame, never mind the premises, kitchen, toilets etc.

What was the yearly insurance costing? I know teachers who looked into starting nurseries but the insurance costs were prohibitive.

Lots of yummy mummies round here but the TT franchise folded about a year ago and nobody wants it.

I confess I went once to the baby version and thought it was rubbish and never went back again!

OP, the other thing you need to bear in mind re the home cooked food is that, if it really IS home cooked then wherever it is cooked will need to be certified by environmental health as well as the kitchen on the actual premises (this is where the small business forum would be able to help you with information.)

I don't know if you are at all musical (by which I mean can you sing in public without shame!) but I used to take my son to a baby music class (lots of singing/banging drums/shaking bells.) Again full of yummy mummies but the outlay for something like that would be lots less than play equipment.

Re car parking, I did both. Some I travelled to by car and others I walked. I do vaguely recall giving up on one playgroup on the morning i couldn't find a space though and going somewhere else but that was only the once.

Quite understandable if you drove somewhere and theirs another one...your hardly going to go home and walk back. :D A reason for a good sized car park (if their will be one) :-)

Hell, no, though I knew every playgroup within a 10 mile radius :D

I was telling my son's GF last night how my ante natal group used to meet at Ikea and put the kids in the play area while we went to the cafe :rotfl:

£3-5k depending on target ages, size and catering facilities.

I think an alternative could be to start a mums and toddlers group in a local community centre.

Or, see if theres any mums and babies fitness classes, Im pre and post natal qualified as a fitness instructor, theres loads of ways to bring mums and kids together without you having to spend a lot of money doing so
