Wasn't sure where to post this but thought a lovely old styler may be my best bet.
I have a 100% silk expensive scarf that I managed to drop stuff on on friday:(
It says dry clean only but I really don't think a dry clean will take the stain out.
Can I hand wash it? What would be the best way to do it without wrecking my lovely scarf?
Please help:)

Use tepid water & a little bit of hand washing liquid.
Swish the scarf in the water.
Squeeze the water out but DO NOT wring it out.
Rinse under the cold tap until the soap is out of it. Squeeze again.
I straightened mine out & hung it over the washing line to drip dry.
It worked for me but I do know someone who ruined theirs using the same method.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -
Thanks CH27, I'm so scared of ruining it! Apart from being expensive its also not made anymore and I love it.The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

My mum's prized Liberty scarves were washed any number of times that way, and I've still got them years later! She washed them in Woolite, with lukewarm water, squeezed out some of the water, and then rolled them in a towel to get more water out, and hung them on the line to dry0

Woolite is good for washing stains out of silk. You can leave it to soak. I am quite brave and use fairy liquid on stains followed by a delicate machine wash on my antique stuff which probably should be hand washed.0

I have a silk setting on my washing machine I've just noticed! Would that be worth a go? It has a hand wash symbol beside it.The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

Put it inside a pillowcase when you put it in the machine, thAt will make it an extra gentle wash0

I did this, popped it on a silk wash with ecover delicate liquid.
Came out fine, I rolled it in a white towel to remove excess moisture and hung to dry.
Looks as good as new, may have lost a tiny bit of softness but I'm hoping that'll return as I wear it.The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
