Cheap cycle insurance 3rd Party

Options
I have public liability on my house insurance, but as it is a cheap policy, and I'd rather not claim against the house anyway, I'm after a nice simple policy that covers me on any bicycle against a third party claim, e.g. I can't stop and run into a car.

Personal injury might be nice too, but I realise this is expensive..

Anything spring to mind?

I could just join the British Cycling Federation I suppose, for £28 a year, and get a newsletter every week, 10% off at halfords (not sale items I bet) legal aid and £10M liability insurance.

I don't actually want theft cover, as these usually restrict to one bike (or sting you for more than 1) and require proof of expensive locks blah blah blah (basically, I subscribe to the mantra- if you can afford to replace it, don't insure it)

My 'bike is worth a fair bit, so theft insurance will be expensive, but I am very careful where I leave it.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

joining British Cycling or CTC would be the best, i doubt u would find much cheaper really.

with British Cycling, the halfords discount does work on sale items and other offers by halfords, when i bought my bike it was on sale as well as a special offer when spending so much, then 10% on top of that. They also include a discount for bike insurance for theft (but it has the restrictions you mentioned)
  • Join BC - I doubt you can get it much cheaper elsewhere anyway, and the legal assistance will help if the accident is the other way round.

Cheers, just joined BC, I suppose the way to look at it is some people would spend £28 a month on a mobile phone, so £28 a year isn't too bad.

Shopping around, bike cover is near enough 10% of the value of the bike, and they only pay out if you lug round an expensive heavy lock and attach it to something immovable, the 'bike is hardly likely to get stolen then is it? ;) so it is better to simply buy the lock and use it.

The 10% off excludes the stuff you would actually want to buy (because it is at a special online price) but does include normal sale items as you say.
