Halifax mortgage credit check

Been to see the Halifax today about remortgaging with them in my name only and removing exhusband from mortgage.
Currently joint mortgage is with the Britannia who turned me down due to a default on a joint loan.
I was honest with Halifax about this so she checked my credit file etc as part of the pre application process and it showed no problems??
While I am obviously pleased with this, why is this the case? Think I read somewhere that they only check last 3 years in which case it wouldn't show as default date was 11/2009.
Does this mean it will suddenly appear if valuation is ok and I go to full application? Don't want to get my hopes up for no reason

Does the default show on all three credit files? If not, they may have checked (one of) the file(s) it doesn't appear on.What will your verse be?

I thought Halifax used Experian and looking on that it shows two checks by them today? That's why I am not sure about the time scale Halifax look back on as it's definitely on there. Really don't want to get my hopes up only to be dashed
