Faulty Tablet - Who's responsible

Morning all,

I bought my mom a tablet 8 months ago from Very. It appears to have developed a fault in which it doesn't hold it's charge and when it is fully charged it will only work when connected to the mains. Who is it I need to speak to about getting it fixed, is it Very or should I go direct to the manufacturer?

Thanks

  • The tablet should be under warranty, so I would speak to the manufacturer.

It might be easier just to buy a new battery.

As far as any warranty is concerned then it'll be be the manufacturer. As far as your consumer rights are concerned then the retailer are responsible so long as you can prove that the fault is inherent. I would go for whichever is the easiest route, in this case probably the manufacturer.

Which tablet is it? (That may or may not alter people's thoughts on the best course of action). If it's an Apple device then absolutely go to the manufacturer.
  • I didn't know Very shipped to America - in any case it may be cheaper to replace rather than pay for it to be shipped back over (unless you live in the UK of course, just Mom is very American!)

Very are responsible however they'll probably refer you to the manufacturer.

things like Tables the retailer would just send to manufacturer anyway so just as easy you doing it.

I know my mother got a Blackberry Playbook form Currys that developed a charging fault that the charger become too slack in the PB and then when testing the charger in my PB it would not charge up.
so took it back to Currys only to be told they dont have a service contract with Rim (BB) so have to contact them direct. Contacted RIM and they said it has to go to their repair center in Germany. they sent a box by Fedex so we could pack the PB and once packed we contact Fedex to collect, which they did and off it went 4 days later a new PB arrived and a couple days after that a new rapid charger arrived.
