Best free online strategy games

I'm looking for something a bit like Civilization that I can play online (no download) and isn't restricted by having to pay to advance in the game

Has anyone found anything good?

Seen Forge of Empires on TV - anybody any experience of this?

    Well, there is a game free on Steam right now, but I wouldn't really call it strategy, it goes more into the direction of a diablo-like RPG. Path of Exile. It's still pretty neat, you might want to check it out (after all it's free ;) )
