Halifax Survey date offered - 30 September??

Are they having a laugh?? I want to be in my property by 30 September!!
The estate agents have told them to get something sooner and I applied for the mortgage through an IFA so I've contacted him... is there any chance they will farm it out to another surveyor to get it sooner??
I have given my landlord an exit date of 12 October so this would make things extremely tight...

If you've requested more than the basic survey that used to cause delays (back in the day when I worked there).
While it would probably cost more, you could ask for Halifax just to do the mortgage valuation and arrange a homebuyers report privately.
That might speed it along.
Or shout until they move you up the queue!0 -

Yeah I was going for homebuyers as they've converted the garage into a bedroom so wanted to make sure all was done properly
I hope to hear back from my mortgage advisor on Monday and will chat with him about that optionKavanne

It may not cost any more to get the basic Halifax valuation and your own full survey, prices are a lot more competitive when survey is not being done as a 'captive market' for the lender.I think....0

Apparently now they can't guarantee changing the type of survey to basic valuation will get it done any quicker so just got to sit on my hands

I was in the same situation as you with Halifax, i booked my valuation on 6th July and they told me the earliest they could do it was the 30th August. My estate agent kicked up a big fuss and said it was unacceptable and the property would fall through and they ended up outsourcing it from Colliers to Countrywide for the 5th August.
If i was you i would apply some pressure it worked for me.0 -

I would not recommend giving notice to a landlord until you are near to exchange. Might be a good plan to talk to themSo many glitches, so little time...0

My landlady is a friend of mine so I am pretty sure she will be OK as long as I pay her for the time I am here.
Managed to get survey brought forward to 20 September!Kavanne
