Old Debt from British Gas sold on

Hi ,

I hope some one may be able to help me

I had an account with British gas in 2009 and moved out in 2010 basically to cut a story short I never paid them and since that time it has been through 2 maybe 3 debt collection agencies . I have nothing on my credit reports default etc . The last one I agreed to set up a dd although when I sent the form back they told me they are no longer pursuing it and its gone back to British gas . I have spoken to bg 3 times over the pass 3 weeks who tell me they sold this in may 2012 and my balance is 0. No further action will be taken and offer advantis credit a settlement ( the last dca). When I speak to them they tell me the account is with british gas ! I even tried to pay BG but they said go thru Advantis .

I have no idea where this debt is , I really don't want anything cropping up on my credit report as I'm looking to get a mortgage so trying to pay this debt . Please advise I'm at my wits end . If bg sold it they wouldn't buy it back would they ? Will it go to another debt agency or has it been written off . Can a DCA issue me with a default or ccj or just the original creditor Many thanks in advance

your chances of a mortgage in the next 3 years are not good as you have defaulted

Thanks for reply . I've already had a mortgage agreed in principle as this doesn't show in any reports . No default has been added . I want to pay it but both companies say they accounts are wi each other . Will they default me 3 years down the line ? My file is perfect apart from this .

My guess is that someone will write to demand the money. Until then there's nothing you can do.

Thanks for the reply . Yes thats what has happened before and my guess it will be sent to yet another dca , i wish i had paid it but had so much going on anyway cant excuse it . Is it strange they didn't default me when it got passed to the first dca or are bg ok regading defaults /reporting to experian etc? Do u think Advantis have given up and are sending it to another dca? How long do they usually take ? Will it go bk to bg or directly onto another dca sorry for so many questions ! At the moment I'm unable to do anything and it's frustrating . Oh once it's paid is it likely it will then show on my file or that fact it never has so far means it won't ?
