Bargain freezer containers ?

Anyone know of any bargains re freezer containers available at the moment? I've got a bit of a glut of all sorts of things (especially soft fruit) and i don't want to waste any of it (especially as I've just lost my job). Only have about 12 at the moment and I need loads more - in different sizes. Am also going to start batch cooking at the weekend - stuff like tomato sauce to defrost when we need it.

Thanks!

Would resealable freezer bags work?? Or poundshops sometimes sell takeaway containers?

I freeze stuff in empty margerine tubs. Once the food has frozen, then i wrap in cling flim/small plastic bag (and label clearly!). This frozen block then goes back in the freezer and then i can re-use the margerine tub again. I find the square/rectangle tubs are far better than round ones, as they take up less space in my freezer.

I've bought bulk loads of takeaway containers from eBay. £10 for 50, but they last ages as they're easy to wash. I find them particularly handy as I have a chest freezer so it's easier to stack these than various sized 'homemade' tubs.

You could buy less and use them to freeze the food but then pop out the frozen block and pop into sandwich bags.

put a ziplock bag inside a square container, fill the bag, freeze, remove bag and use container again. Makes stackable blocks.
Almost the same thing as above but the faff taken out :)

there will be some other ideas in this thread

I have been using takeaway containers (£1 shop, 4 for a pound - slightly larger size) but I've found they've been splitting a lot so need to find a better good sized alternative.

    Ill merge this later

Our local Chinese supermarkets sell the plastic takeaway boxes (500ml and 650ml) 10 for £1. When I run out of boxes I go through the freezer and put each box's contents in a plastic bag (seal and label them) and it creates loads more space in the freezer. (They stack well in the storage cupboard too.)
    Better is good enough.
