Mortgage and deeds?

Not sure if this is possible. 8-9 years ago I was made bankrupt due to illness. Much better now! However we(fianc!e and I) are looking into purchasing a home, ideally as a joint venture.

In case this is impossible could my fianc!e take out a mortgage(which we both pay equally) and she then adds my name to the property deeds?

Unless something untoward has happened since. Then you should be looking for a joint mortgage,

No everything has been fine since and been rebuilding credit score for years now, not even missed a single payment. All the past defaults and the bankruptcy have been cleared off credit files.

Just worried after reading stories off people getting turned down a lot and thinking of alternative routes if needed.

A lender normally requires the mortgage to be held in the same names (s) as the property.

If your partner took out a mortgage in her sole name, she'd have to seek the lenders permission to add you to the property. They'd only give their consent if they added you to the mortgage as well.

If they didn't think you were a suitable borrower, they wouldn't give their consent.

So in other words, she can't just go ahead and do it
