in Cutting tax
I am unsure how to work this out, so if anyone can help it would be appreciated.
I this current tax year, i have been paid a total gross of 8171, and have paid tax of 1291
I am weekly paid now, and have a tax code of 944L
Have I paid too much tax to date, and if so, how would i reclaim it?
Thanks

its difficult to tell without additional information.
what makes you think you might have overpaid tax ?0 -
Sorry,
The 8K figure is made up of three parts:
4905 final pay from employer1
426 JSA
2839 pay to date from current employer2
The tax paid figure is 1178 from employer1, and 112 from employer2
Does that help
Also, most recent payslip from current employer only shows their gross pay to date, not total ytd if that makes any difference0 -
for weekly pay, your tax free allowance is about 9440/52 = 181.5
theres been roughly 21 weeks since the start of the tax year, so you have an allowance of, 3812
so your taxable pay will be about, 8171 - 3812 = 4359
20% of that is 871.8.
these are just rough figures, but it looks like you might have overpaid abit.
what are the lengths for each job period, i.e., how many weekly payments did you get for each job.
and roughly how much were you paid each week from them.
The tax for the first job doesn't look right. I assume this does not include NI?0 -
The tax figure that you give for job 1 suggests that you left there about week 4 is that correct?
Overall I think that there is a high chance that you are on emergency tax code at the moment. Does your payslip show anything like X week1 month 1 non-cumulative or even just 1 after the tax code? Did you pass on P45s each time you moved between signing on and employment? If so can you give the full details from part 1A of the job centre P45?0
