Do you think any of the other political parties would be any different if they held the power? I am no DUP supporter but I know a wee bit about what goes on inside political parties and none of them would be any diffferent. From what I've read recently Sinn Fein would be the most guilty of open manipulation.0 -
The voting electorate in NI get the politicians they deserve since they insist on (mostly) voting along tribal lines when it comes to big elections. The Daily Mail
Tagline - "Why let the truth get in the way of a story to incense Middle England"0 -
I see our two DUP MPs have put in the largest expense claims of all 650 MP. Lovely to see it costs more to operate an office in Antrim compare to the centre of London.
Will the DUP ever get their noses out of the trough? Will they always employ party family members?

I've never agreed with what they stand for or their policies. No political party which has its foundation in fundamentalism can ever serve the electorate properly. The political spectrum here is all wrong because the voters concentrate on the border issue and either vote on a 6 county or 32 county agenda. Until that's removed from politics here we're not going to see voting on a level playing field.
Paisley junior is a career politician with a safe seat. A silver spooner who's determined to get as much out of his parliamentary seat as possible. He might well be a good MP (his da was, even though he was the worst agitator I've ever seen or heard of in the UK or Ireland) but he needs to exercise some restraint and stop being arrogant, because he undoubtedly is.
I could go on. I could write a litany about what I think of the two main political parties here but this isn't the time or place.0 -
Another DUP man with the nose firmly in the trough

Paying his family 61k a year. !!!!!!. There must be better qualified people out there?
What kind of work did his daughter receive 18k for?
61% of the DUP employ family members. The other ones swap family members and employ other DUP member’s family.
Are we the public best served by this man? Are we getting value for money here? Are we getting the best service possible from his family members? This is a joke.
This is nothing more than one man and his family sucking as much as he can from the public purse and dressing it up as public service. This disgusts me.

One part of me says there's nothing wrong with exploiting the system if it's in your favour but the other part is furious at the oul dodger. Now we know why people are so keen to become MLA's.0 -

That's true, I know what you mean but the fact is, the old todger is taking our money and using it to fund his lifestyle. We have no way of knowing what value we are getting here.
He doesn't think the tax paying public have a right to scrutinise what he spends OUR money on.0 -

He was hoping they wouldn't and that he'd sit there quietly for years enjoying a great lifestyle. Him and a few others.
Not now they won't lol.
