Hi all, applied for a mortgage with Nationwide, was referred, then sent all my docs and partners 3 months b/s - payslips etc, and this was then accepted after 2/3 weeks, then progressed to full mortgage, valuation took place and now and accepted, had a text saying delighted to inform you we have now issued a formal mortgage application...that's where we are at...
What I wanted to ask is...has anyone ever heard of the lendor (Nationwide) asking for more bank statements after this stage that we are on? It's just we were gifted 10k by a relative, and an additional 5k from another relative that we didn't really need...so we gave back 5k to the relative who gifted 10k!
I'm just worried if we're asked for additional bank statements it may hold things up having to explain all this, even though the gift amount is essentially unchanged! Broker said it's fine but I'm worrying about everything.

You'll probably be required to account to your solicitor for the gifts by obtaining a gifted deposit letter from the donors.I am a mortgage broker.
