  • my OH was in this situation, in the end we just whacked a course on a credit card,

    In the end my OH had to give his trade in as we had a mortgage to pay and his unstable income made it very difficult for us, what he found was that unfortunately there is so many people coming in and undercutting on quotations for jobs, doing a bad job and then the customer was ringing my OH back to get him to come and repair/finish the bad job so he was only getting half or less of the original quotation money.

    It got to the point where every call was a repair! I might be worth getting your husband to send out letter to property development companies asking if they need another builder or speaking to plumbers to team up with them, I know a few people who have had more success getting involved with other tradesmen.
