DomRavioli wrote: »How does checking your bank account regularly help you SAVE money? Simple answer is it doesn't.
Same with making gifts at home. I can pick up gift sets in poundland, which would cost me more to make at home (on average around £4 for a small gift set and packaging).
You've also repeated quite a few on the list, such as eat out less, cheap/free dates...shall I go on?
Checking your bank account could save you money as you'd know how much you have instead of spending it and having to pay overdraft fees.
To begin with buying the supplies you need can cost a bit but for things like greeting cards you can have a lot of materials left over
I know I have repeated myself which I why I posted a reply above to another member stating that I am doing it again.SavingsRepayment: £0/£359.00

Charleybear - great list, well done and so what if you've repeated yourself - always good to have another reminder about what your goals are, and for what its worth I check my bank balance every day at least once - I need a constant visual reminder of what I don't have to keep me on track. I'm bookmarking your list and will print it off and stick it up in the Kitchen as a reminder - thank you :]Projects made for craft fair - 40

here's a couple of ideas
Sort through your jewellery box. Gather together any broken pieces in silver and gold and sell them.
Be mindful - know the usual price - in other words, wherever you shop know what you pay. Then if you see a 'bargain' you will know whether it really is one! For instance I have seen 2 x 32 ibuprofen for £1 in Poundworld. Not such a bargain when they are 29p in Savers and 32p in Morries!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

Here's another
Buy (or make) birthday (etc) cards in good time so that they can be posted second class - and make sure they don't fall into the Large Letter category!Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

dont buy books use your local library(if its still open)
if your house is too big after family have grown up DOWN size,we have saved around £2000 a year on bills doing this0 -
Thanks Charleybear - Great list
I have some to add -
Check charity shops early in the week as usually busy Friday/Saturday and they put new stuff out when quiet.
If you are putting worn-out clothes in the recycling - remove the buttons and zips to replace others if needed.
Try to have 2 pairs of everyday shoes on the go and wear them alternate days - they will last a lot longer - and keep them polished.
Always take a bottle of water (tap of course) with you when going out so you are not thirsty and have to buy something.
Drink a large glass of water before shopping - being thirsty gives you the same message as being hungry - bad for impulse purchasing.
NEVER bin leftovers - have some small bags and a 'left-overs' box in the freezer and when you have enough blitz for soup.
You can do the same if you have room with peelings (not potato) and when enough use to make stock.
Learn when and how to buy when stuff IN SEASON - much cheaper.
Bulk out stews, soups, pies, casseroles, Bolognese and Chilli with finely chopped veg and a tin of mixed beans
Hope this helps - wonder how many we can get to between us all :rotfl:£10day.2014=3213/2015=3421/2016=3238/2017=2702/2018=498..APR=12.03/300

If you have the oven on to cook a Sunday roast, cook a cake or loaf of bread at the same time. Don't put the gas on twice.
Defrost stuff in your fridge. It'll help cool the fridge down.0 -
Im normally mega fussy on stuff for my hair but I have been using the MrT 20p value baby wash for body and hair ... Its nice and I've got loads of conditioner left (as you do) so I use this every other wash (wash my hair every day) ... The kids love it to as it doesnt sting there eyes
I have also started using an energy monitor (been in cupboard for ages) and before bedtime/going out the boys always check to make sure we are using minimal energy ... It's really made them think about what they are wasting as it gives the cost per hour on it
I have also started a small book I keep in my handbag and anytime I spend anything I write it in ... It does make you think twice !
Sure I'll think of more in a bit
