Parsnips and turnips in a casserole?

I'm going to sound thick now but I've never cooked with these before.
I'm doing a beef casserole so far I have new potatoes, onions, carrots in there going to add mushrooms later. I also have turnip (I think it's turnip anyway its white with a purple ring round looks like a swede) and parsnips will these be nice in the casserole or cooked separately, I don't like them personally but I'm making it for OH and DS2, I've been given the veg so trying to use it up and be very MSE
Any thoughts appreciated x

parsnips are lovely in a stew/casserole but can make it a bit sweet - you may want to add a bit extra onion to counterbalance it, but overall I'm sure you will find it very tasty0

I cook with parsnip and carrot together often.
Try this sometimes http://www.bigoven.com/recipe/170023/joolss-favourite-beef-stew-by-jamie-oliver
(I cook it like this, but don't put the butternut squash in sometimes)0 -
Any root veg gets chucked into my casseroles and DH says they taste fine
I avoid eating parsnips as they give me indigestion so I make sure they are in identifiable chunks.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
I put them in stews, that's actually the only time I have turnip!0
