Natwest mortage, how long?

Hi

As the title suggests, I was wondering on timeframes for Natwest mortgages?

As a background to the question, we're buying a new build under the HTB scheme, we can't order our chosen kitchen (with 4-6 week waiting period) until after exchange but need to be in the house by end of October or we're homeless as our rental ends. Thus, would need to exchange mid September.

Our full mortgage application was submitted last week not sure how long we will have to wait to hear back? Or whether we need to look for short term accommodation!

Thanks!

Our last NatWest App was submitted on 9 August.

We had some issues faxing them documents they could read, but the case was eventually signed-off for valuation on 20 August.

The valuation was done yesterday and we're expecting it to be returned and the case offered by Monday. That would be 24 days in total.

If you haven't already, make sure you supply a copy of the ATP - all four pages. They won't offer the case without it.

  • Thanks Kingstreet, I'll check with my IFA if this was done. This is the first HTB one that he has done for NatWest so he (like I) may not of known that this was required! Great advice :)
  • Just found out that ours will be much longer as IFA has yet to fax supporting docs following the full application being submitted on 23 August 2013 :( He estimates at least three weeks provided nothing else needed and the valuation takes place quickly.

As we need a quick turnaround to complete before rental finishes (can only extend in 6month blocks), can anyone please confirm the IFA's advice that:
    • there's no need to submit ATP and
    • no need to inform Natwestof gift from Mum of £10k because the 5% deposit comes from savings (the gift will be used on SDLT).
Just want to ensure no further delays! Thanks
