Fees' Do we have to pay?

Options
Any advice/comments?

After much hounding we decided to take up the offer of help from 'The Claims Guys'! (we didn't realise you could do it yourself until it was too late!).

Anyway we have been paid out by 2 lenders. The 2nd lender is taking their time. (we have already paid CG's their fee for 1st lender) But the CG's have been like hungry salesmen, chasing us everyday to pay their fee!
We told them when we get the money we will pay them.

But now it has got to the stage where they are harassing us a lot!

This has made us feel like we don't want to pat their fee. I know this is probably wrong.. BUT

Could we get away without paying them? We did sign an agreement. But what would happen if we didn't pay them when we eventually get the money.

No. Do you normally ask people to do things for you and agree a price then try to worm out of things?

Do you pay the car mechanic after he fixes your car? Do you pay for your meal before you leave a restaurant?

They should not be harassing you as you have not received the 2nd payout yet, get in touch with them and tell them you will pay when you have the redress and if they continue to harass you then you will make a complaint to the claims management regulator at the MOJ.

These companies make me sick asking for their fee when you have not yet been paid yourself, you have to pay them though as the other posters have said, you signed a contract.

That suggests breaches of the Conduct of Authorised Persons Rules 2007. In particular, Client Specific Rules 1e - "A business shall - Where advice is given, advise the client unambiguously of ombudsman schemes or other official means of obtaining redress" and 3 - "A business must not engage in high pressure selling."

If so, the OP has a legitimate complaint that the ambulance chaser has itself missold its services because, had it not breached the rules he would have done it himself at no cost.

Either way, the current behaviour seems to be a breach of Client Specific Rule 1a - "A firm shall = Act fairly and reasonably in dealings with all clients."
