applying soon - question about overdraft

we're applying for a mortgage soon. i currently have a student overdraft for £3000 (paying it off slowly but surely). my mum has offered to borrow me the money to clear it before the application is made.
first of all, should i wait until my credit file is updated next month (normally on the 11th) before making the app to show it's clear?
and
is the fact it's been overdrawn for a while a problem or will the fact it's been cleared be ok? it's always been run within the t&c's (i.e. never gone informally overdrawn)
thanks xx

It depends on the lender. If you've been in your overdraft for a length of time, it might be seen as financial hardship. Can you not pay off your overdraft out of some of the mortgage deposit and then build that back up? That way you won't have any debt, including to your mother.
And sorry but I couldn't resist this, given your signature; your mum has offered to 'lend' you the money not 'borrow' it!
What will your verse be?
