employment agency problem

1 .. Did the agency ask for any of this before placing you in the job?
2.. why do you not have any of the documents they are now asking for ?
3..is the agency CIS registered?
I might be completely wrong here but the Building trade has tightened up in the last few years and any decent agency should be working within the rules that now apply0 -
I have always had to provide proof of NI number - being an oldie I've always given them an old pay slip. Also, I am always asked for photographic ID as well.
They may well have broken several rules in relation to letting you work before getting this info - I'm sure there will be someone on here who can clarify.
I would suggest if you don't have a DL or passport then you send them something photographic confirming your ID if you have it.
In this country there is no law requiring a national to hold photographic ID. Not everyone has a passport and not everyone drives (or, if they do drive, hold a DL with a photo).
This is not a lawful reason to withhold payment.0 -
