Woolwich mortgage term extension

Hi,
I'd really appreciate it if anyone who has experience of organising a mortgage term extension via the Woolwich could offer some advice.
Once the form has been completed do they tend to request bank statements or pay slips? Essentially I am in the process of completing my form and am wondering what could count against me when they look at it. I should say that I am not in arrears. When I took out the mortgage I opted for the 20 year option, but my circumstances have now changed and I'd like to go to 25 or thirty years to reduce my monthy outgoings to give myself a way of building up a small nest egg against future problems.
Was rather hoping that getting an extension to the term wasn't as onerous as applying for a mortgage - but that is probably a bit naive...
Thanks so much
