It's my wife's 40th birthday next month and I would like to buy her a personalised gift to make it than bit more special.
She is keen on the outdoors and loves home-made things, but yet to find a gift that ticks both boxes.
Any suggestions on what to get her would be much obliged! And in the true spirit of MSE, it can't cost the world and discount codes are also welcomed!! :money:

How about a picnic blanket made from "things"that have some memories.Be it something from the tie you proposed in or children's (you didn't say either way) baby gro ,a hanky you gave her when she felt rough! What I'm trying to say is anything that she/you/both have a memory with. You can also have photos put on material that can then be included.
Forget the clothes bit..! I have done a shifty on our friend Google and found photo blankets.I like the look of them I want one,I'll lay subtle hints to O.H for ChristmasLife is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0 -
Are you arty at all? Or know anyone who could lend a hand? How about painting a galvanised metal watering can with Hammerite paint in her favourite colours and then paint her name on it? Or you could paint the house number on it, fill it with bulbs for spring? I have painted a watering can like this myself and it looked lovely. I didn't put bulbs in mine but it was just an idea. Wouldn't cost that much. You can buy cheap galvanised buckets or watering cans from places like Home Bargains and I'm sure you can buy small pots of hammerite or similar. Or do a few buckets like that to fill with shrubs or plants?0
