As you got engaged in London, you may be able to get to Hatton Garden easily. I would very much recommend it, even just as research.

If you head down at a weekend there's a great cafe for breakfast on the corner of Greville Street and Kirby Street. You can really make a good day out of it :)

The nice thing is you can see the rings in the flesh, and haggling is absolutely the norm. They all expect you to be shopping around, so there's no awkwardness and not much hard sell.

The traders there expect customers to be a bit savvy, and are all very knowledgeable themselves.

Many shops will immediately offer a discount off the listed price of a ring. When we bought mine, I think the shop immediately offered about £300 off the listed price, and we got them down a bit further. We also then got a discount off our wedding rings (and free engraving I think) for being returning customers.

    Have a great time!

    Thank you guys!

I have larger fingers (size q) so I think a solitaire might look lost, I'm thinking maybe a cluster or something with a jewelled band like yours Sazarella, I love your ring, it's stunning!

We're going to have a good look around Bath in a couple of weeks so we can look at both independant and high street chains to compare :)

Thanks. I also have fat fingers. My ring is an American size 11 which I think is a UK size T :( However I still think it looks good.

  • You've completely inspired me, we're now looking at pink sapphire. Thank you for the tip about Etsy, I showed my OH your ring and he said it was nicer than anything we've seen so far!

I'm so glad I could help :) Personally we couldn't afford a diamond and thought everything in the high street jewellers looked the same. Which is why we looked at something a bit different but I've had nothing but complements about it and I think it's so pretty.

Also with that Esty seller. She didn't have any of the Pink Sapphire in the size we wanted when we first went to her but she sourced the stone for us and sent pics all along the process.
