Question On Updating Posted Comps

Hello There :j
I've had this happen to me loads of times & see it happen to other people as well & I can't work out how they do it so thought I would ask
When someone posts a comp with a question but they have not put the answer, someone comes along & finds the answer with the source of the answer.
Brilliant
But then a minuet or so later the original comp post is updated to show the answer that the other member found, but the original comp post does not say edited, it looks like the person who found the answer is just putting what the original comp post had all along, when it did not
How do people do this?
Thanks xxx

It's all down to time really. There is a window of opportunity where an edit will not show when a post is first uploaded. From experience the window is about three minutes.

When I posted I didn't notice the question but edited as soon as I did. Whilst I was editing WeeOwens posted the answer below.
And now I noticed a typo in my title edited again but this time the edit will show.Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.
Virtuous action, now, at this very moment.

Willing acceptance - now, at this very moment - of what you can’t change0 -
Thanks it was just puzzling me because every time I edit one of the comps I have listed it always show's edited
But the three minuet does make sense
thought I was going mad!

if someone is viewing the ops posting as soon as they've posted it in one minute you can 'jump' in & post the answer/reply/etc,
some peeps sit on the new postings & can then quick reply,
before the op gets chance to 'preview' their comp without anyone
adding to it,
easy done xplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
Thanks Fire**fly
That makes sense, sometimes I am watching them come in

same here, today this was posted by moneybot
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4751207
& I noticed as soon as it was posted the E: date hadn't been added,
I could have posted on the thread to say straight away but chose instead to pm moneybot to let them know & by the time i'd done that the title had been amended by the op,
& no edit showed xplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
I must admit I have started to PM people more when the title is wrong as not many people reply when you leave a message under the comp post, or even change the title so it does not go into GO

I thought that was thoughtful of you; not had a good day with posting today have managed to put in the wrong link, forget the end date and not see there was a question.
I did notice once I had posted without the end date as it looked wrong. I think some people post quickly to get in first with a comp then edit afterwards...Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.
