I remember reading a post some time ago about using the apple peelings and apple core to make apple jelly/jam??? But I can't seem to find it. Does anyone else remember reading it and could possibly point me in the right direction please.

Is this what you were after?

Thanks for the link, this one is useful too but not the one I remember reading recently. Back to thread searching for me :beer:0 -
I've made apple jelly from peelings and cores. Boil the peelings and cores in water, strain through a jelly bag if you have one or muslin hung from a cupboard door if you don't. Never squeeze it or the juice will become cloudy.
Once strained add sugar and boil then pour into sterilised jars.

I'll add your thread to that one later.

Thank you all for your help, this gives me enough ideas of what to do with my left over apple peelings and cores, I hate wasting them.0

This is Pam-the-Jam's compost heap jelly recipe:
500g apple peelings and cores
500g citrus peel, roughly chopped
´
1.5 litres water
Bring to the boil and simmer till peel is tender about an hour. Strain overnight through a jelly bag.
For every 450ml of liquid you need 600g sugar. Bring the water to the boil, add the juice of one citrus if you want to, add sugar and boil rapidly for about ten minutes till setting point is reached.
Stir to disperse bubbles and bottle.0 -
I just asked DH's help to pour the apple core and peel and juice into a jelly bag, or rather a leg from an old (clean!) pair of tights and he had the brilliant idea of using an embroidery hoop to stretch the leg open. That boy will go far!0
