E-bay queen saving hoilday fund :) wish me luck :)

Good afternoon all
I become debt free in Feb 07. It taken us a good 2 years to do it. Very hard work, Ebay stuff, bootsale, not going out, less take aways.

I set this up cos i want to save for a hoilday to say well done to me and hubby for working so hard to become debt free. I want to save bout £2000. I know it a lot but i want the a great hoilday to remember in Dom rep.

My aim is selling bits on ebay, Bootsale, going to try and put at least 5% of wages away in saving account.

I will not book the hoilday till i have the money. Once I got to the £1500 mark i gonna start looking a cheaper deals on line.

Anyone is welcome to join in the saving club.

Thank you for reading i will update when anything happens :)

Well done for becoming debt free - and an even bigger welldone for wanting to stay that way! We have a holiday fund and it is brilliant. We stick any money we make through selling stuff, overtime, spare change, paying council tax money into it when you get a month off etc etc etc. It soon adds up and you know exactly how much you have to spend on a holiday. It's very black and white -yes we can afford that holiday or no we can't afford that holiday! Hope you get there quickly...great fun and great satisfaction too...

Hi E-bay queen! I am doing exactly the same thing - although sadly not debt free like you, huge congrats on that!!

I haven't had a holiday for about seven years, so last year I decided that enough was enough and I wanted to go to New York. Obviously couldn't possibly afford it - only way would have been to stick it on c/c and then worry about it later but no way was I doing that.

So I decided that I would save up by using Ebay, and put everything I made on there in a seperate account - keeping it absolutely clear from my debts and day to day money. I've been doing it for about 18 months now, and have managed to save around £2k. (And yes, I know this could have paid off my debts, but I am tackling them seperately and this holiday is much needed!). So the two weeks in New York are booked for October for me and my darling OH - now I am just saving spending money.

So it is definitely possible to do! And I feel so so proud that I am taking me and my OH on a fantastic holiday, and not putting any of it on credit. So, keep in touch and we'll keep each other going! Good luck!

    Well done E-bay Queen,

It will make the holiday soooo enjoyable knowing how hard you have saved up for it.

I had a week in Egypt, the last week in May and I had saved for it and the spending money since January, it was worth all the scrimping and scratching I had had to do to raise the money and I really enjoyed the holiday it totally recharged my batteries, so good on ya girl!

Ebay queen what kind of stuff do you sell on ebay? I always end up giving stuff to charity as ive never been a user of Ebay and wouldnt have the first clue about what to do or what sells. Can you make money from 2nd hand goods cos i might give it ago. I can only try i suppose!

The only thing that worries me is the posting thing and collecting the money off people. I would probably spend most of my time at the post office and end up making hardly any profit!

Do you have any good tips?
