Hi everyone,
Just a quick question - what is everyone's experience of winning whilst away on holiday and therefore not getting back to the company in time (usually you get 7 days to claim your prize).
Not that i have won anything since i have been doing this since June (one ticket win but could not attend) but i am hopefull that lady luck will be smiling in me whilst away.
Thanks for all the feedback x

2015 Goals:
To be debt free which at the start of the year will be approx 10K. One holiday win and some cash to help along with the debt payments. Anything else will be a bonus that i can then pay it forward with.
Law of Attraction really works

I found out yesterday that I'd won a T-shirt on the Citroen Seekers game, they put the post on Facebook just before I went on holiday but obviously I wasn't tagged in it or anything so only came across it by chance yesterday whilst googling myself (lol)
They haven't got back to me yet to say if I am too late to claim it, tbh not bothered if I miss out on a T-shirt really.
I would imagine if it wasn't a time-sensitive prize such as tickets, it would be fine if you were late responding to a winning notification.0 -
These are the IPM guidelines/adviceNotification timelines
Social media moves quickly and Promoters are tending to allow less and less time for winners to claim prizes.
However, promotional industry best practice advises that you should give at least 28 days from the initial winner notification (unless there are very good reasons why a shorter period should be used – for example, if the prize is tickets to an event taking place within the next few days).
Ensure you communicate when and how winners will be notified before inviting people to enter on your Facebook page to avoid any consumer disappointment.
Be aware that very short timelines are frowned upon by the ASA, CAP and the IPM (except as noted above) and Promoters could find they receive a challenge or a complaint to the ASA.
andThe Copy Advice team is often asked what promoters should do if they have carried out the promotion according to the terms and conditions laid down but are unable to contact the winner. Both CAP and the ASA would expect promoters to make all reasonable efforts to contact the winner but if, despite their best endeavors, they are not able to contact the winner, promoters do not need to award the prize. Some promoters award the first prize to the runner up.0 -
I went on holiday may 13th - 20th and had entered an unlimited entries comp that ended on may 13th (I entered about 500 times!)
Forgot to sort a dongle out for while I was away and the place we were staying didn't have Wi-Fi.
Anyway, got home on 20th to 3 emails from the people organising the comp. First was to say congrats. Second was saying please get in touch. And the third said if I didn't contact them by 4pm that afternoon the prize would be given to someone else.
Luckily I got home at 2pm and read my emails and contacted the people just in time....otherwise the prize would have been given to someone else as it had been 7 days.0 -
Interesting thread because I won a candle on a rafflecopter comp and the message went in my 'others' box on facebook. I don't check this daily, usually every few days and when I replied she said that because I had not replied in 24 hours they had reallocated the prize! Thought this was very mean and it's not as though it was a time limited comp.....I am still peed off about it now tbh and won't go near that blog again!! So there! Thanks to all those fab compers who post:j:T0
