Recommendations for Cake for Fathers Day Present

Hi, have decided to make a cake for father in-law for fathers day.
The easiest being a cheesecake is out as he does not like it. Can any body suggest and easy, tasty cake that will hopefully wow. He does like fruit cakes, but i seem to think of these as more winter cakes, than summer.

Any help would be appreciated.

For Fathers Day DH has asked for a coffee and walnut sponge cake - it is his favorite and for some reason I always look at it as a mans cake ???

I just use some cold diluted strong coffee in the cake mix and then fill the cake with coffee butter cream and decorate with walnuts and coffee butter cream.

My dad likes fruit cake too, it doesnt have to be for winter at all. You could make a lighter cake like genoa or a cherry cake.

My dad likes things to be not too sweet and his favorite is a lemon cake, you can make it as a loaf and just drizzle the icing over the top.

Banana cake is also very easy then there chocolate cake!

How about a carrot cake???. Do not know how to make it but as a Dad it's one of my fav,s until they figure out how to make a cake made of Lager :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
