Mini oven recommendations please..

Hi all,

I am thinking of buying a mini oven - our main oven is huge a single oven in a 110 range cooker.

As we are cooking alot more for just the 2 of us, it doesn,t make sense to heat that massive space for just us.

Anyone recommend a good one?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Many thanks in advance - IM x

Get a table top halogen oven - wonderful things!

    I use mine everyday.

You can roast, bake, grill etc.

Another voting for the halogen. I rarely use my main oven these days. You might think of getting one with an extender ring.

I been wondering the same, to buy a small oven rather than use the big oven, by the time you wait for it to heat up and then use it, it must use an awful lot of energy. Would a small oven be alot cheaper to run? I live on my own too.

Aldi have a mini oven next week

    Thanks all,

We don,t have an Aldi here yet, looks like a great price though.

Its got to be cheaper to run, my big oven takes 15-20 mins to get to temp, we do have plans to get a smaller one, but when we re do the kitchen next year - I would just like to save energy ( money) and it should be more economical with a little one.

Will keep looking and compare halogen and standard mini ovens.

Another possibility is a microwave/convection/grill oven, although this will be more expensive than a halogen or mini oven.

I've used a mini oven in the past which was around the size of the Aldi one, and while it was fine for in the caravan, I think I prefer using the halogen oven for every day use.

At the end of the day, I suppose it really depends on personal needs, and if a 10L oven will be enough, then that's it. I just like having the halogen oven with extender ring, as it just has that bit of extra capacity, and it does cook quicker than a normal or mini oven. Of course there are larger mini ovens, just not looked into them myself.

Another thing re halogen ovens, you can buy cookware specifically for them. I've been using round non-stick cake tins from Asda and they work just fine, and a lot cheaper.

I know that both are cheaper to run than a conventional oven, but would be useful if you could compare the two. Sorry not found anything yet.

I'm also looking to buy some sort of mini oven so will be following this thread eagerly. I'm moving guardian properties to a place with no oven and can't have one installed.

I'm put off halogen cookers because I tend to use my oven for stuff like fish baked in foil/paper and hm pizza and tray bakes. Does anyone have a good "normal" oven that is still plug in? With or without hobs on top.

I have a dinky little Hyundai one at the moment, it's little and great for at home and for campervanning. Love it.

Over the last 10 years I've had a few mini ovens and they've all been great. I never use my oven at all and don't have a grill or toaster either, the mini does the lot. It's just the size that will matter I reckon. So for one the little Hyundai is great, but if you have a larger family and need to cook things like pizzas then you'd need to check the size. I looked at halogens but they're far too large and for one person, not worth it.

I don't have a microwave either, and do like having all the extra space on worktops usually taken up by all these gizmos.
