stanley solid fuel range help to cook on

morning all
we have had a second hand stanley range cooker put in as we have acess to free wood suplie which means we have cut our use of electric rugh down :rotfl:it also does our heating and hot water.
what im struggling with is cooking cakes and bread, meat stews etc are fine but its the delicate things, has anyone else cooked on a solid fuel rage and how did the manange ?, we do have a cooker but as money here is very very tight i need to not use it for cakes etc and also first thing in the morning befor the stanley gets going , are there any tricks out there ?
