Photography Theft

The Mail carries a report today about photography theft for the purpose of competition. It is not an isolated incident. I recently saw that an Easter hamper of chocolate had been awarded to someone who took her photo of an egg dressed up as a ladybird from an American craft site. I didn't report it.
The search Tineye is sometimes useful if your suspicions are aroused that you have seen an image before. How many of us would report it though?

interesting article, thanks for posting.
annoyingly there are sometimes restrictions on submitting photos with watermarks which would help cos then the comp provider could ask for a clean version at the end of the comp.0 -
Rather ironic that the Mail story is not an original

Rational judgement, now, at this very moment.

You can also drag and drop the image into Google search to search for an image on the web. I actually find that works better than TinEye as TinEye doesn't crawl as many websites as Google has. Google has brought my work up on the web many more times than TinEye. Just my experience though.2019 Wins

To put a different spin on it, I won a fridge/freezer last Halloween from a photo comp and was accused of using an image off google, despite the photo clearly being of me and my son! my prize was honoured and the person questioned was ignored but its not nice being accused of faking an image my son and I had spent an hour setting up and taking.Win Totals 2013 £3331 / 2014 £4815 / 2015 £3067 / 2016 £5617 / 2017-2023 £4106 / 2024 £2500 OVER £23K!!0

Hi Louiseoc There's no wonder the person who accused you of copying was ignored they could not possibly have any evidence!
In cases where someone has entered someone else's pic it is easy to give the url of the place they've copied from. Still wouldn't report though - can't do with the aggro.0
