Hi,
i dont know if anybody can help but i am looking for something a saw a while a go and cant remember where i saw it or how it was described!
i am going camping/walking next month and i would like to buy something that enables me to make hot drinks on the move - without carrying a stove etc.
the thing that i saw was like a battery powered element that you put in the cup until the water boiled and then you could add stuff etc.
if anybody knows where i could get one, or something else that does the same tye of thing i would be grateful
thanks

i know that you get elements that plug into car cigarette lighter sockets , but don't think i've ever seen one that is totally portable.
you can buy can's of coffee that heat themselves up as you open them
Edit; found this link"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page."
happy travels !!

Have you tried Millets they are a pretty good camping shop. I used to have one of the elements that plug into car cigarette lighte socket years ago. I bought it from either argos, milletts or a car accessory shop
Dont think there is anything online but this site will show you where the nearest store is https://www.millets.co.uk

hi
try e-bay i bought an electric one on there. i think they stopped making them a while ago as they were a fire hazzard 'cos people wrn't careful where they put them down when they had finnished with them but they were still dangerously hot!0 -
thanks for the ideas so far,
can u remember what you searched for when you looked on ebay?0 -
It may be simpler to just buy a flask! Alternatively get a basic cheap gas stove. Some of them are really light nowadays.
e.g. This one isn't the lightes but it is cheap

I don't see how you could boil water with a battery powered heater unless it used a ridiculous amount of batteries. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends

Have you tried a kelly kettle: http://www.kellykettle.com/?gclid=CN_e4PGH1IwCFQeHlAodcFvGqQ
Sometimes called a storm kettle I think.0 -
wow - those kelly kettles look fun!
yep, might have to resort to a small stove - trouble is one of the places we are camping does not allow any 'cooking' near the tent areas. Whilst we were not really going to cook anything, having something warm last thing at night/first thing in the morning is a must - and i didnt really want to take a small stove just for that or have to go a long way away to make some tea - but it looks like a might have to.
unless anybody else can suggest anything??0
