    Ive not had roles that required DBS clearance, just the usual checks eg refererences.

    i have this situation a lot in my industry. Particularly the new firm holding off contacting the current employer as you can get into a catch-22 situation, resigning from your current job with no guarantee of the next.
    My firm uses a third party firm to check references and we have had also sorts of criminals gettin thru the checks and their misdemeanours coming out years later! i wouldnt worry!
