Money held by NatWest

Can anybody help, I transferred some money online on 5th July for some plumbing work that was carried out in the house, a few days later the plumber informed me it had not gone into his NatWest account. What I had done was made a mistake with the second digit of the sort code, I am an HSBC customer and on checking with them I had to wait 5 working days to see if it would bounce back into my account, nothing happened rang NatWest and was told it was sat in a holding account. My bank then applied to get the money back on 17th July nothing they applied again on 31st July still nothing back from NatWest. I rang HSBC fast payment team on 5th August and they told me NatWest were holding onto the money till 13th August, rang again on 15th HSBC had not received any update from NatWest since beginning of the month. Still no information or money as of today, spoke to NatWest but they won't have anything to do with me only deal with HSBC. Don't know what to do now?.

    If you have been told that NatWest is holding the money on a holding account then I can suggest one thing, email: ross.m.mcewan@rbs.com

    The above is the Chief Exec of RBS Group and that should get his executive team onto the case. Please give as much detail to them as possible and explain what you have been told and state you made an error but at the moment you have a plumber who needs paying and the delay is causing significant damage to your reputation(you will be amazed how quickly things can get sorted if you do this ;) ).
