Re-evaluating Rates

the 12.5% discount is only if the landlord uses an agent . Otherwise its 7.5%
That's incorrect all landlords can get it, you dont need an agent.
When it refers to an agent form, it's the AA10 application form that LPSNI provide that they are referring to.
Apologies for the link, I'm using an iPad and don't know how to make it smaller with the insert above

After a bit of a debate with the operator he applied a 5% discount as a "good will gesture".
Lol I've worked there for over 15 years and this is the first occasion I've ever heard this.
Every customer gets a 4% discount on their start of year bill if paid within 5 weeks, maybe this is what they referred to or did either of you have a backdated bill for a new occupancy or a new build?!
The first person anyone speaks to is a memer of NIDirect staff, they are operators, it's only after you do security do you speak to actual rates staff. Id be interested to see how this was authorised, as not one person in my office even senior managers can do this during a call or even after. I'm happy to stand corrected though, and if correct can't wait to give it a go lol0 -
The supervisor I spoke to was called Elizabeth, you would need to speak to her.0

Hi Hurricane
I think it's great and really hope it's something new, and I'm the last to hear about it. I yap about my rates to the valuers all the time.
I'm going to find out on Monday for all of us here, would you mind just sending me a pm with your council area, no other details :money:0 -
You cannot just get money off rates by ringing up and asking for it. People claiming to have done so are making it up, as for £200 quid off, constituting 5%, this would mean the total demand was £8000 (ie 20x5) which goes to exemplify how surreal the previous posts have become. There are of course glitches to get around rates but it's rare the opportunity comes up for it.0

i bought at the start of last year for 11% under RV in BT9. However they had my house down at nearly 200m2 and i knew it to be closer to 160m2. applied for revaluation after i bought. took nearly 9 months for someone to come and visit! anyway was proved right and 20% deducted and postdated to the date i sent the letter (jan 2012). so RV now 10% less than i paid for house.0

5% off £8000 would be £400.0 -
Thanks for maths lesson, btw rates are capped on domestic premises and none in the province are charged 4K per annum, confirming the invalidity of your previous argument.0

You're quite right, the rates are £3222 per annum so if this 5% off was actually true they would save £161 or one could sayThey'd save nearly £200 quid.0 -
