Applying for a mortgage with the intention of requesting consent to let as soon as possible - is mortgage fraud.
The possible outcome is that natwest or any lender could decline the request leaving the OP in a difficult position.
All advisors here are here to help where possible. We are not trying to be difficult but to say something is possible for it to then get refused isnt good advice. Sometimes we do have to be cruel to be kind but in the grand scheme of things we do try to be kind.
