Found some of the above in Tescos (400g) currently on offer at 99p instead of 1.39 (I think). Seemed like a nice economical way to buy garlic to add to cooking.

Have you used one of them before? I'd be interested to know what the equivalent no. of garlic cloves are- I always assumed it was going to work out more expensive as garlic isn't too pricey anyway, but I suppose it saves you all the chopping/crushing which would definitely be a good thing! How long did a tube last you?0

I use the tiny frozen ice cube shape ones. I think each cube is equivalent to a clove. I find them useful as I don't use garlic that often and if I buy the fresh stuff it goes off before I can use it all up. THis way there is no waste. Can't remember if they were from Tesco or Sainsburys.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0

I use the lazy garlic that comes in a jar. cant remember how much it is but just store in the fridge when not using. it is quite strong so dont need much and lasts for ages.0

Even better you mcan make your own lazy garlic. I bought a garlic crusher from the ideal homes show-fantastic piece of equipment other than now im allergic to fresh garlic!!
Basically they showed me that you can chop or crush the garlic, put in an old jam jar and cover with olive oil. You not only save youself washing garlicy utensils up and getting smelly hands but its mega convenient and you get flavoured oil aswell as the crushed garlic pieces perfectly preserved! It keeps for months like this.0 -
It comes in a rectangular block 6 ins by 4 ins (roughly) with pieces divided into 1 inch pieces for ease of use. Personally I would probably only use 1/2 one of the pieces at a time. 400g is a helluva lot of garlic and seems much more economical than buying fresh, grating and freezing it, or buying tubes or garlic in brine, in my opinion.0
