How much to charge for admin service?

I work in admin in the NHS and one of the doctors has asked me to type up some interview transcription as part of his wife's dissertation in social work. Apparently the interviews were 45 minutes per candidate interviewed and there are four candidates and so I am figuring this is a lot of information to transcribe. He was unsure where to go for admin help and so asked me and said he would pay me of course. I told him that I would have a think about it and let him know and get some information about a price. Private work costs in the NHS varies between doctors and their secretaries and if I work from home online working it is 8p per line but this is something I am experienced in and the work is very minimal and so I feel like for this kind of work I would like to charge a little more for the time I am probably going to put in and making it look professional.

Does anyone do this kind of admin work and do you charge per line or per hour and how much?

I don't want to overcharge but obviously don't want to undercharge either for what is going to take up my free time at home and is a bit out of my comfort zone.

Thanks

Unless he's a close friend and you're doing this as a favour, I would charge whatever you get paid per hour in your NHS admin job.

No he isn't and I don't know him well actually, I am just the only secretary he has come into contact with on a regular basis and felt comfortable asking.

I am thinking of charging 10p per line as that way then they will know roughly how much it will be for the length of the transcription and I can obviously invoice better that way - since they won't see me doing the work and so the time I take cannot be monitored and they could argue it (even though I am trustworthy).
