looking for a 1 bedroom flat

Hello,
we are two good friends (a guy and a girl) looking for a 1 bedroom flat in London.
We have lived for 3 months in a studio flat which we rented through an agency.
our budgedt would be around 300 (with all bills included) per week.
It is not an easy task to find the right flat here. There are plenty of agencies but we'd prefer a private contact.

We do not know exaclty how long are we going to stay. 6 months, more? something less? We do not know exactly. It depends on many factors.

Many thanks

when you say bills, does that include food as well ?

u'll be looking at least £1000/month including bills, and thats if you are in one of the cheaper areas, or really far out of the centre

    No, not the food :D
Yes, our budget would be around 300 per week =1200 per month.

    somewhere in zone 2.
    We live now in Cricklewood
  • It's not usual to find a self-contained property with bills included, most especially not council tax.

For that budget it might be necessary to look outside Zone 2 or take a room or rooms in a shared flat or house

    £300 a week is nearer £1300 a month (£300 x 52 / 12)

a month is made of 4 weeks.

very true, you could just take it off the budget to get a rough idea

i would say for 2 people, about £300 for council tax, gas, electricity and water should be enough

leaving £900-1000 to cover the rent, which is going to be a struggle in Zone 2

if you go further out in zone 5-6 you might be able to get the rent for around £700-800

4 weeks is 28 days, only February has that many days (excluding leap year)

so all other months are intact more than 4 weeks.

rent and bills are paid monthly rather than 4 weekly.

    harrys dad's calculation is accurate

No a month is made up of between 28 and 31 day. If months were made of 4 weeks there would be 48 weeks a year (12x4).

Other than Gumtree I'm not sure where you'd find private landlords advertising.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!
