Internet Banking - DD App

Hi - as a BR with Barclays I'm still suffering from withdrawal symptoms not having internet banking () Trying to manage on a tight budget is made so much harder when you don't have real time information! However, although not a complete solution I have found a fantastic phone app to monitor DD's on the Money Advice website which will help a lot. It has no access to my actual account but you can set it up with all your DD recipients, amounts and dates and it keeps a running total for you! Really helpful App that helps me manage my money and simplicity itself :j

Will it not allow you to use the Barclays bank app?0

Unfortunately un-discharged BR's are not permitted to use internet/phone or mobile banking at Barclays. We can have paper statements only.0

have you tried? I had all of those things whilst undischarged, it seems hit and miss who gets what but as the app is new you may just slip throughworth a try.

Oh yes I've tried - I was even told by their staff that the account info machines they have in the branch's would work and suffered the humiliation of being shown how to use it but the screen said in large letters "due to the status of your account we are unable to offer this service"
I tried the mobile app too but it recognised my account number immediately. If you get internet and mobile banking from Barclays before DC you are benefiting from a fluke admin error (something confirmed by a friends husband who works for Barclays)0 -

When I said "you may slip through" that was implying I understand it was an admin me error0 -
During the BR process, I've have benefited from something else that was an admin error (OR knows and has shrugged his shoulders as I was honest about it) - so I'm not complaining
The whole 'no internet banking' thing has made life difficult but I have found ways to cope and I have learned a great deal about the banking system and how to manage my money in the process which is no bad thing.0 -
Well I am pleased Barclays refused me now as I have full Internet and mobile banking with my account which, quite frankly, is essential in this day and age.0

I went BR a couple of weeks ago and went into Barclays to open a new bank account after being in court and the lovely lady at Barclays said that they had changed around things 6 months ago as they realised it was silly to not give internet and phone banking to cash card account holders. So maybe go into the branch in the same town/city as where you went BR (as they'll have advisers with more experience of opening accounts for undischarged BR's) and ask again.0

I'll give it a go but I am reliably informed by someone who works quite high up at the Barclays that as far as he is aware - it is a blanket rule. Always worth a shot though :T0

same thing I did, went straight to my local Barclays after court and opened one, told the women the reason, I was given my account number there and then and internet banking and phone banking too.0
