Can I ask again please.... if something finishes on promo at Tesco tomorrow night (goes up on Weds) does that mean it changes in MySupermarket and won't compare if bought at A tomorrow? TIA xIf I had a pound for every pound I'd lost, I'd be confused0

In between some RL tidying up and putting the bins out, I've got a little time to post the following:
Morries prices aren't on the website msm.co.uk. This is because M doesn't currently have an online grocery service and therefore not all items are on its website. You'll find some of the offers there but, even then, not often down to specific varieties of a product. The website works by taking scrapes of the data used behind the online grocery sites.
In the 'help' section of msm, they explain why they don't includes Morries and other supermarkets. This appears now to be out of date as they do (just) now include Aldi. Msm explain that they don't include Morries and others because "...we can only include supermarkets that provide us with daily pricing updates for their full product inventory, to ensure that we remain fully up to date. We will certainly consider adding them to mySupermarket if they provide us with their pricing information."
However, despite saying they're only able to include supermarkets that provide them with daily pricing updates, I note that the section for Aldi's prices on msm includes a note that the Aldi prices are only updated once a week (on a Wednesday). Perhaps msm do now get daily updates but the prices are only updated once a week: I don't know.
The prices for Morries on the APG are not taken from online. They are collected instore in a number (six across Great Britain) of M stores by an "independent agency". It is not confirmed whether or not this "agency" is msm, although I understand they are the largest such agency and that the Morries data for the APG is clearly accessible to Mysupermarket Limited itself.
They clearly do have access to data, that is collected instore in Ms, which is used for the APG and, some time ago, I contacted Msm to ask why they didn't use this data and show it on their website as clearly they did have it. The response was that they thought it would be confusing to users as it would only be updated once (or twice, they collect on Mondays and Wednesdays) a week. We'd therefore be looking at prices on, say, a Friday, and seeing Friday's pricing for A, T, S, W and O but alongside M's pricing from the previous Wednesday. They suggested this would be confusing (...it wouldn't confuse me:D:D:rotfl: and would actually be rather helpful if they did include it - instead we have to get the prices ourselves instore in M and hope they match what's on the APG. There's therefore a gap on msm.co.uk, in that it has no Morries prices, and my own list - with one thing leading to another and greatly expanding and expanding to what it is now - seeks to plug this gap to some extent. I don't get my prices from msm.co.uk - I have to physically go to an M store and note down the prices (a process that takes "a number of hours") (and sometimes check a few extra items in another M store where there is doubt or need for confirmation or my first store doesn't sell the item).)
You might wonder, if it would be confusing to include M prices on the website as they are not collected daily, why the prices for Aldi, which now appear on the site and aren't updated daily, are not also confusing. (That's of course not an argument to remove those Aldi prices from the site!) Perhaps msm have decided that Morries data will start being included even though that's only being updated once or twice a week and maybe, after this coming Wednesday, the prices for M will suddenly appear on msm.co.uk around Friday (when the Wednesday data has been collated and put into the system). Who knows.
Nonetheless, I'll still be collecting the M prices on Wednesday in any event. (You can imagine I'll probably be a little disappointed if the prices for M do appear on msm.co.uk thus making my own price collection rather pointless. Nonetheless, I don't know that they are going to be appearing on msm.co.uk anytime soon - perhaps A5da have a contract with Msm that prevents Msm from publishing on their site the data for M used by the APG - I don't know. One thing is for sure - it would be very useful if msm.co.uk were to have Morries price info.)0 -
I am going to hit the hay!! Good night my luvelys.never stop doing your best because someone doesn't give you credit0
