I may know more than aau on this one. its not clockwise or anti clockwise. its positive or negative rotations. + the opposite is also true. you can tighten the other way round. better known as right and left handed threads. for instance- if its an inert gas bottle it will tighten the opposite way to what you would expect. this is so, because its a safety measure from getting inert and the other one mixes up. also in a more real down to earth world. your pedals on a bike, also tighten in opposite ways, god I wish savvy was here to explain better.
