I know some people don't agree but we always used to lift all our DDs onto the toilet before we went to bed depending on what time they went to bed about 3 hours after. Did it probably up to about age of 3. Then found gradually if they had a full bladder they would wander to the toilet themselves.

I agree, lifted my boys and worked well.
Must admit I lifted for quite a while but the arrangement suited us and I think I enjoyed giving them the extra special attention.
Never had trouble with dd. Lifting was recommended to me for ds1. I made sure they were aware of what we were doing and funny little things use to stand on my feet to 'walk' to the toilet.:rotfl:

I am much in the idea of 'whatever works'. Dd says she will not use pull ups but will go from nappy to pants. Must admit in my day we had no choice, disposable nappies were no good until ds2 was born anyway.

Can anyone offer advice on how to train a 3 yr old to be dry in the night pls? Just been up to wet again with a dry like me in to!!

Ds1 was dry in the day at 26 mths and then at night 2 weeks later so ive never had to do anything!!

Just catching up and so I don't know if this has been answered to you but I'll let you know what it worked for my friend.
I started potty training when my kids began to walk and both of them were out of nappies after couple of months and not one single time any of them had a wet bed. It's been so easy for me but my friend was struggling with her 2y old dd and I remember my dgm advice. If the child is over 2years you can do this have him drink only water during the day and in the evening around 6pm disolve 2 spoons of honey in water and have him drink that. In two weeks the most you will find a dry nappy on him in the mornings. It worked for my friend and she was delighted.
