exercise help ?

Hi all this is taking mega courage posting so hopefully someone can advise me on execise, I'm female 42 and 5 years ago weighed 27.5 stone ! I know I should never let myself get that far etc but I did and for most of my adult life too, but have started to dig myself out of this hole and was bordering 20 stone till I've massively upped my exercise(for someone my size),I follow slimming world but am open to ideas I'm enjoying the exercise now so don't want to stop it to see scales move again, I've built up to 3x25 mins on ex bike usually about 34k in total 30 mins walking dog daily plus 15 min step on Wii fit totalling 2 hours 6 days a week inches are dropping but scales not moving ... ? Can anyone advise I'm really desperate as exercise is eating into mam time so I must make this work x

Keep going, try to relax about the scales, weight is affected by a lot of factors and on any weight loss journey you will have the odd blip. This is a journey and you don't need every step to be in a straight line.

Also sent you a pm :)

Well done on tackling this though! It's a tough step to take, give yourself credit for it.
  • Sounds to me like you're doing really well. If you are losing inches, but not weight, then you must be building muscle (muscle having a higher density than fat) So you are making good progress. Keep going + I'm sure you will achieve your goal.

    Good luck!:)

WOW! Go girl! What an achievement! I agree that the scales are not moving because muscle weighs more than fat tissue, but the fact that the inches are dropping shows how much you are achieving. stick with it and try to set goals less related to weight and more towards inches perhaps? Or distances covered, or length of time exercising? I am also a big lady and have recently started exercising seriously, but am taking the view that I don;t mind being this size so long as it's muscle not flab. I'm loving seeing the beginning of muscle definition in my thighs and arms (tummy is taking a lot longer!!!!) and the feeling of strength I am getting.
Keep going with your wonderful work.

  • Thanks all I will continue and going to weigh blind in group for a month to take pressure off numbers I can see bits going n shaping so things are on the move just shuffling rather than coming out lol

I have read a fair few bits and they seem to all say mess about with speeds rather than just ambling along so been going like the clappers for a minute then normal speed for 30 seconds its taken minutes off but god its made me sweat so must stick with it that way for a while...
