We have a Ryobi PBC 3046YE petrol strimmer and we have just had to replace the cord for the first time. But we can't seem to get the head to fix correctly again to enable the "bump" cord release. Unfortunately we lost the instructions in a house move! Please does anyone have any tips on getting these things back together? Thanks

    Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
    These are the instructions for the string replacement from the manual;

    Stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug wire.

    Hold the string head and unscrew the spool retainer. Turn clockwise
    Remove the spool from the string. Keep the spring attached to the spool. Remove any old string remaining on the spool.

    Cut two pieces of string approx 2.7m long.

    Insert the string into the anchor hole in the upper part of the spool. Wind the first string around the upper part of the spool counterclockwise, as shown by the arrows on the spool. Place string in the slot on spool flange, leaving about 152mm (6") extended beyond the slot. Do not overfill. After winding the string, there should be at least 6mm (1/4") between the wound string and the outside edge of the spool.

    Repeat above with 2nd string using the bottom part of the spool. Do not overfill.

    Replace the spool and the spool retainer.

    I'm not 100% sure this is the information you are after, however tomorrow if I remember I'll scan the manual and let you know where I put it.

    Thanks

    Have replied to your PM and emailed you. Will try again with these instructions - don't think we put the string in the slots (didn't fit easily!) so that could be the problem. But the manual would be very handy if not to much hassle.

    Please could you let me know what you think of the Ryobi PCB3046YE. We are considering one as it's on a good deal at a local shop but would appreciate any feedback either positive or negative!

    Many thanks
