Charity DMP or own

Hi, I was wondering which is the best way to go. Whether to use a charity DMP or contact creditors myself. We have just under £10,000 debt plus cars on HP ( which we need due to work patterns/ start times) also contract iPads, and sky package.

Not sure if I can deal with creditors myself, already had phone call this morning at a couple of minutes past 8.

Off work at the moment with stress/ depression. Feel tearfully and sick all the time. I feel so wretched! Want to enjoy life with my son (2 and a half) and husband.

I need to know what to do for the best.

i would contact stepchange debt charity or use their online debt remedy tool which is what i done. i had 19k debts and stepchange have been great. all creditors acepted offers, no hassles now. their budget includes everything you could possibly need to save money for as well as your regular bills and hire purchase. they also have budget options for kids pocket money, entertainment/activities etc. so you can still enjoy a few cheap family days out. i recommend them 110%.

Aaaw sounds like you're having a rough time, big hug and well done for starting deal with it. Definately contact step change, why have the hassle your self when some-one will do it all for you and share the burden.
I'm sure you'll feel better once you've called them, even the phone numbers free! 0800 138 1111

  • I have been in touch with cash flow and have a call appointment later to go through our financial statement. I hope I can get this sorted.
  • Just speak to them, it is great to have someone to ask advise. It isn't always easy to talk to friends and it can put you under a lot of stress :( Stepchange also have a website, there is a lot of help on there and then you can phone them if you need to. Hope you get sorted quickly :)

Make sure that they don't charge you. Lots of places take a cut of your payment to do the same thing that Stepchange or Payplan will do for free.

I personally cannot recommend stepchange highly enough.

    Hi

Have you had a look at the CAB online system

Debt Remedy & Advice & Information Resource
    http://mymoney.nedcab.org.uk/moneyadvice/

http://mymoney.nedcab.org.uk/moneyadvice/dmptour.asp (example completed Debt Management Plan)

It is free to use, does everything, saves everything, has the recognised expenditure allowances, you basically run things no need for an invite or caseworker to unlock it if you need to change anything.

Not everyone is suited to self help

Make sure you get full advice on all your options etc

    Your choice and decisions

    Best Wishes

If its already stressing you out to the point of being off work, i'd suggest one of the charities. You'll never need to speak to your creditors again! Get a new phone number and relax
