Online platform games for women

Hi, I'm hoping someone could point me in the direction of a game like Farmville, Professor Layton or a similar good addictive
game that I am able to play online.
I'd like to be able to compete against others and/or move up levels but don't want to have to join facebook to play games like these.
Any suggestions?

As a female, I'm quite offended by the title of this thread. Why does it have to be "for women", why not just "platform games"? Also, neither Farmville or Professor Layton would be classed as a platformer, unless by platform you meant 'available to play online'.0

I don't think the OP meant any offence at all, as a female myself I wasn't bothered by this, and I think by platform the OP meant a level based game of a cartoon style, something easy-going to nip in and out.
MrsChristmas, If you're a PC player then I'd suggest you take a look at both of the following publisher sites, they set-up their websites to be an online platform for game playing, and both have a number of free-to-play social games which you can access via their website or via FB if you so wish (your choice entirely):
Zynga - play titles such as Farmville 2, Bubble Safari, Cityville, Kingdon Quest etc
PopCap Games - titles such as Plants vs Zombies 2, Bejewled 3 (or 2), Zuma's Revenge, Alchemy etc
That should be enough to keep you occupied for a while0 -
I was a little taken aback by the title too, I'm afraid
I thought we'd about got past the division of the sexes?
Why platform games for women? Any game is unisex depending on whether you like the subject matter. Even men play The Sims, you know.
Farmville is/was a very simple simulator-type game and Professor Layton games are puzzle games, so I think the OP should look at all sorts of simple games and choose which of the many types is her preference.
MrsChristmas, if you have a PC then go to Steam here: http://store.steampowered.com/ to research the many different genres and the many many game choices. Each game has a description and some have video and even a free Demo occasionally to try out. YouTube is also a good place to watch play-throughs so you can see what a game looks and plays like.0 -
Another female who was a bit taken aback by the thread title and content, although I'm sure the OP meant no offence
. These types of games certainly wouldn't be my first choice (although I do like puzzle games, just would be far more likely to play a Silent Hill game for puzzles than Professor Layton
). As an aside, I know men who play FarmVille on Facebook.
If you have access to an Apple or Android device there's plenty of free puzzle and easy going FarmVille type games, like The Simpsons Tapped Out (it's like an advanced version of what FarmVille would be) although you can buy in game currency for extras but they aren't necessary to progress. You can have up to 100 friends on it.
I don't play many free games online via PC, only very occasionally through this site http://www.arcadevillage.com/. Plenty of puzzles but I don't think you can compete against others.I SUPPORT CAT RESCUE! Visit Cat Chat to support cat rescue too.

It's not specifically for girls but I used to play Runescape.

You have skills that you level up such as fishing, woodcutting, strength, summoning, magic, hunting & many more.
Quests/pets/join a clan/minigames etc
It's a MMORPG so as you are playing, nearly all the other characters you see are other people playing and you can chat, trade and help each other.
It does look like its for kids but I played from 15-21 and knew people of all ages.0 -
What is a woman's platform game ?
All in pink perhaps ?
Must have a "cuteness" element ?

WoW! Sorry, no offence was intended!
Maybe the title could be changed to 'online games like Farmville but not through facebook'?... which was what I kinda meant as I enjoyed playing Farmville when I was on Facebook a few years ago.
I like the element of just being able to log on & be on the level where I left off.
Many thanks to those who offered suggestions. I'll look into them.0 -
Wow, I also just want to get into the game, maybe I can learn in this thread.0

I've been playing Kingdom of Loathing for about six years now and can recommend it. It's got levels in it so that ticks one of your boxes. There is the option to do player vs player but I've never bothered so I can't tell you whether it's worthwhile or not.
